Shane Whitaker
DVM
Dr. Shane Whitaker graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an externship at Montgomery Zoo in Montgomery, Alabama.
Dr. Whitaker is proficient in a variety of surgical services. His special interest in veterinary medicine is the advancement of innovative technology; Dr. Whitaker is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery using advanced imaging capabilities.
Dr. Whitaker and his wife, Jennifer, have two children: his stepdaughter, Zoe, and Holly.
Ashley Carter
DVM
Dr. Carter earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Master of Science in Animal Science Swine Physiology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She also received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Carter holds a USDA Accreditation for health certificates.
Dr. Carter has special interests in the veterinary fields of Preventative Healthcare such as routine wellness, vaccines, and preventions; weight management; client education; health certificates; dermatology; fear-free handling; and diagnostic imaging. Dr. Carter is a Fear Free Certified veterinary professional. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, and the Human Animal Bond Association. She is a new member of the Hamilton County Veterinary Medical Association. In 2018, Dr. Carter received the Veterinary Social Work Award.
Dr. Carter’s animal family includes three cats named Sinbad, Fatso, and Leo. She will soon have an addition to the family, a mastiff/Dane mix puppy! Dr. Carter enjoys frisbee golf, canvas painting, Disney trivia, and animal visitation therapy in her free time.
Sarah Rawlston
DVM
Dr. Rawlston received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with minors in Agricultural Business and Biology at the University of Tennessee. She also received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Rawlston specializes in surgery, preventative medicine, internal medicine, and dermatology. She is a Fear Free Certified veterinary professional. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. In 2020, Dr. Rawlston received the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology Award and the Purina Excellence in Companion Animal Nutrition Award.
Dr. Rawlston and her fiancé, Josh, have a fur family of five, including three cats named Leo, Summer, and Benny and two dogs named Rupert and Loren. In their free time, they enjoy hiking and all the outdoor activities Chattanooga offers.
Kenneth B.
Kenneth is the Practice Manager at Highway 58 Animal Hospital, bringing a decade of experience in the veterinary medicine industry. A proud graduate of Dalton State College, Kenneth is committed to fostering a positive culture and environment for his team while ensuring exceptional care for clients and their beloved pets. His leadership and dedication shine through in every aspect of the practice. When he’s not at the hospital, Kenneth enjoys spending quality time with his family and staying active by playing softball and basketball. His passion for both his work and personal life makes Kenneth a valued leader at Highway 58 Animal Hospital.
Felicia M.
Meet Felicia, a sharp-eyed Veterinary Assistant at Highway 58 Animal Hospital since 2016. She prides herself in being able to spot bumps and limps from a mile away. Felicia shares her home with a lively menagerie, including Ellie, the lab mix, Louie the orange cat, Ammy the calico, Mac the grey tabby, and Billy, the brown tabby. When she’s not at the practice, Felicia loves fishing, knitting cozy creations, and taking peaceful walks with her husband and Ellie.
Erin M.
Sr. Veterinary Assistant
Erin is a dedicated Senior Veterinary Assistant at Highway 58 Animal Hospital since 2015. Currently enrolled in Penn Foster’s Vet Tech program, Erin’s thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for trying new things fuel her compassionate care for pets and clients alike. At home, Erin is the proud owner of a special cat: Gabby, a resilient rescue with no teeth and a busted leg. Outside of her professional life, Erin enjoys gardening, birding, traveling, and the intricate art of cross-stitching. Her commitment to learning and her compassionate heart make her an invaluable asset to the Highway 58 team.
Summer C.
Meet Summer, a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Highway 58 Animal Hospital! A proud graduate of Chattanooga State, she has been dedicated to the veterinary medicine industry for three exciting years. Summer is the loving owner of Chapo, her lively pit bull who keeps her on her toes. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find Summer enjoying the thrill of live music or paddling her way through scenic waterways on her kayak. Her vibrant energy and passion for both animals and adventure make her an invaluable part of the Highway 58 team.
Olivia G.
With six years of experience in the veterinary medicine industry, Olivia is a dedicated Senior Veterinary Assistant at Highway 58 Animal Hospital. Known for her compassionate and patient approach, she ensures every patient feels safe and cared for.
At home, Olivia’s heart belongs to her beloved Pitbull, Mumen. When she’s not at the hospital, she loves to explore the great outdoors on hiking adventures, dive into a good book, and spend quality time playing with her furry best friend.

When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll find her enjoying outdoor activities like porch sitting and swimming, exploring new cuisines, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Selena A.
Selena is a graduate of Berry College and has dedicated the past two years to the pet care industry, where she shines as a compassionate Kennel Tech. Her commitment to making every pet in boarding feel safe and loved sets her apart, ensuring each furry guest enjoys a home-away-from-home experience.
At home, Selena’s heart is full with her snuggle bug Coonhound mix named Mutt and her mischievous cat, Ori, who keeps her on her toes. Outside of work, Selena loves to explore the great outdoors through hiking and expresses her creativity with painting.
Brittany B.
Brittany brings seven years of experience in the pet care industry to her role as a Senior Veterinary Assistant at Highway 59 Animal Hospital. She excels at building strong relationships with clients and takes pride in watching her patients grow and thrive under her care.
At home, Brittany is surrounded by her six beloved dogs: Wesson and River, who are Labradors; Lakely, a Lab/Pit mix; Hazel, a Lab/Australian Shepherd mix; and Tank and Ell, who are Pitbulls.
Outside of work, Brittany enjoys spending her time kayaking, fishing, and hunting, embracing her love for the great outdoors.
Megan M.
Megan, a senior Veterinary Assistant at Highway 58 Animal Hospital, brings eight years of compassionate care and expertise to her role. Known for her heartfelt dedication, she treats every pet as if they were her own, ensuring they receive the highest care and attention. At home, Megan’s four dogs and one cat keep her busy and bring endless joy to her life. When she’s not at work, Megan loves making memories with her family, whether it’s over a cozy family dinner, out on the lake, or during a relaxing fishing trip. Her passion for animals and vibrant family life make Megan a cherished Highway 58 Animal Hospital team member.

With nine years of experience in the pet care industry, Tori is a skilled Veterinary Assistant at Highway 58 Animal Hospital. She takes great pride in her unique ability to bond with fractious, scared cats, turning fearful moments into comforting experiences.
At home, Tori is the proud owner of two charming cats, Matt and Phill. When she’s not at the hospital, she enjoys hiking through nature and indulging in relaxing cat naps.
Addison P.
Addison, a Chattanooga State Community College graduate, brings five years of dedicated pet care experience to her role as a Kennel Tech. She prides herself on treating each pet that is dropped off as if they were her own, ensuring they feel loved and comfortable.
At home, Addison enjoys the company of her Dachshund named Summit and her cat, Stella. Outside of work, you can find her spending quality time with her fur babies, playing disc golf, and embracing the great outdoors.
Priscilla D.
Priscilla is a seasoned Kennel Tech with nearly a decade of experience in the pet care industry. A proud graduate of Dalton State College with a bachelor’s in biology, Priscilla is known for her patience and compassion towards both clients and their beloved pets. Her home is a lively haven, shared with three cats, two guinea pigs, and a rotating roster of foster kittens. When she’s not providing top-notch care at the kennel, Priscilla loves hitting the trails with her dog, embracing the great outdoors one hike at a time. Her dedication and warmth make her a cherished member of the pet care community.
Melanie M.
With over three years of experience in the veterinary medicine industry, Melanie is a passionate Customer Service Representative at Highway 58 Animal Hospital. She excels at educating pet owners about animal care and prevention while providing top-notch customer service.
Melanie’s home is a lively menagerie with two dogs, Laila and Mabel, a cat named Kitty, and two frogs, Wednesday and Mojo. Outside of work, she loves horseback riding, hiking, and hanging out with friends. Melanie’s vibrant personality and dedication to animal care make her an invaluable part of the team.

Courtney is a dedicated Customer Service Representative at Highway 58 Animal Hospital, bringing her five years of veterinary industry experience to her role. A proud Penn Foster graduate, Courtney’s love for animals extends beyond the practice, where she cares for a lively menagerie of four cats, four dogs, five lizards, and eight chickens. Her passion for animal welfare shines through every interaction, ensuring pet owners and furry friends feel welcome and cared for. Grace brings three years of experience in the pet care industry to her role as a Customer Service Representative. She loves building strong relationships with clients and her team, making every interaction warm and memorable.
At home, Grace’s quirky pet family includes two cats, named Rooster and Goose, each adding their unique charm to her life. When she’s not working, Grace enjoys diving into a good book, exploring antique shops, and indulging in her passion for writing. Her friendly demeanor and dedication to excellent service make her a valued member of the team.
